On the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 395th birth anniversary, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Governor Haribhau Bagde paid floral tributes to the legendary warrior king at Raj Bhavan in Jaipur on Wednesday.

Governor Haribhau Bagde announced that a special celebration would take place at the Birla Auditorium later in the day to honor Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy. He remarked, “Today marks the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and this is the first time this festival is being celebrated in Jaipur. Workers from Maharashtra have brought the statue of Shivaji Maharaj from Nashik. The event will be held at 12 noon at the Birla Auditorium, and I encourage the people of Jaipur to remember Shivaji Maharaj today.”

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, speaking at the tribute ceremony, emphasized Shivaji Maharaj’s immense sacrifices for the nation and expressed gratitude to the Maratha community for organizing the event. “The Maratha community in Rajasthan has organized this program to mark the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He dedicated his life to the nation, and I pay my respects to him. I thank the Maratha community once again for their efforts.”

Meanwhile, celebrations in Maharashtra’s Nagpur were marked by grand festivities, with people seen celebrating in the streets, waving flags, and playing dhols in honor of the great king’s legacy.

Born on February 19, 1630, at Shivneri Fort in Pune, Shivaji Maharaj founded the Maratha Empire and is hailed as one of the greatest warriors in Indian history. In 1674, after a fierce battle with the Mughals in 1670, he established the Maratha Empire in western India. Apart from his military prowess, Shivaji Maharaj was also known for his well-organized administration and the creation of a civil code for the local population.

The celebrations are aimed at paying tribute to the warrior king’s significant role in restoring the Maratha Empire and acknowledging his lasting contributions to Indian history.
